Farnham Town confirm the departure of Brandon Kalu

Farnham Town can confirm that defender Brandon Kalu will be leaving the Club this summer.

A player with great experience in the higher levels, Kalu was part of the Northwood side that narrowly lost out to Walton and Hersham in the Isthmian South Central playoffs in 2022/23, with the Swans eventually securing promotion to the Southern League Premier South.

Prior to that, Kalu also was part of the Bedfont Sports squad managed by Paul Johnson who knew what he would bring to his Farnham Town side this season.

One of the later arrivals to the squad, Kalu signed for the Town back in October 2023 and was immediately part of the first-team squad, making his debut during the 5-1 win away at Horley Town on October 14th. He would make his first start for the Club the following Saturday at left-back in the 1-0 win over Rising Ballers Kensington in the FA Vase.

Brandon filled in capably in both fullback positions throughout the season, and became a regular in the side towards the end of the campaign, starting eight of the Town’s final 11 games across all competitions. In all, the left-back made 29 appearances for the Club, including 16 starts as we went the entire league campaign unbeaten, securing promotion to Step 4.

Manager Paul Johnson said: “We needed an addition in our defensive ranks early in the season, and Brandon answered the call. He’s a player I know well and could trust, as well as having good experience at higher levels. He slotted into the group well and gave his all for the shirt.

“Towards the end of the season, he started to get comfortable in the team and really found his feet. He made some big contributions to the side as we secured promotion and went throughout the season unbeaten. We all wish Brandon the best as he continues his football elsewhere next season.”

Everyone at Farnham Town would like to thank Brandon for his efforts this past season, and wish him all the best as he leaves the Club to continue his football journey elsewhere next season.
