Farnham Town confirm the departure of midfielder Lamar Koroma

Farnham Town can confirm the news that midfielder Lamar Koroma has decided to leave the Club this summer.

Over the last 18 months, Lamar has been an integral player in the Club’s success. He arrived at The Memorial Ground in January 2023 and made his debut for Farnham Town on January 7th as one of Paul Johnson’s earliest recruits.

From that point on, Lamar was an established regular in the side, starting 21 of the final 25 games of the 2022/23 season, scoring his first goal on February 4th, netting the winner in a 1-0 victory over Knaphill.

Lamar anchored the midfield that ended the game on a 10-game unbeaten run in the Combined Counties Premier Division South and captained the side en route to winning the Southern Combination Cup in May 2023.

This past season, Lamar was again central to our success, appearing in 35 of our 38 league games en route to our invincible, title-winning campaign. He scored his only goal of the campaign in the 4-0 home win over Camberley Town on December 23rd 2023.

Since his arrival, Lamar has made 68 appearances for the Town, including 59 starts, scoring three goals and providing four assists for his teammates as the Club’s fortunes on the pitch turned around and we secured promotion to Step 4 for the first time in our Club history.

Lamar always came with the right attitude and established a great rapport with the supporters at The Memorial Ground, considered a real fan-favourite amongst fans young and old.

Manager Paul Johnson said: “I’m upset to be losing Lamar this summer. Having spent the last 18 months together, Lamar was one of the first players we spoke to that was willing to take the leap of faith and join us at Farnham. His attitude was spot-on and became a real leader in the dressing room, ending the season as the Captain.

“This season, Lamar featured in virtually every league game. His availability is one of his best attributes. He gave his all on the field for us and does a lot of the unsung work for the team. We made an offer for Lamar to stay, but he’s decided to move onto another opportunity elsewhere next season. Lamar will always be considered a Farnham Town Invincible and we wish him all the best in the future.”

Everyone at Farnham Town would like to wish Lamar the very best as he continues his football journey elsewhere next season, and he will always be welcomed back at The Memorial Ground with open arms!
