Farnham Town Women confirm capture of three new signings

Ahead of the new league season getting underway in September, Farnham Town Women are pleased to announce their first three signings of the summer, welcoming striker Chloe Melton from AFC Stoneham Ladies, defender Danielle Jones from Badshot Lea Ladies and goalkeeper Jenna Temple who also arrives from Badshot Lea Ladies.

Manager Martin Wareham and his backroom team arrived this summer with a view of reigniting Women’s football at Farnham Town in 2024/25 after we announced plans to revive the Women’s team going into next season, and have wasted no time in recruiting some great talent for the side ahead of entering the Surrey Premier League this Autumn.

Firstly, the Club welcomes striker Chloe Melton to The Memorial Ground.  An experienced and prolific striker in the Women’s game, Chloe spent the early part of her career with Reading Women before moving to America where she was an NSCAA All-Central Third Team selection and a four-year letter-winner from 2013-2016.

She returned to English football in 2017, signing for Yeovil Town Women in the Women’s Super League, the top tier of the Women’s Football Pyramid. She also spent time with Chichester City Women before joining AFC Stoneham Ladies, where she has been their top scorer in each of the last two seasons including 27 goals in 19 games in 2022/23.

Manager Martin Wareham said: “Chloe is a proven goalscorer with experience at the highest level. Knowing Chloe from the local area and having watched her play last season she became a top target. Chuffed to have her on board from the beginning and I look forward to working with her.”

The Town also welcome two players familiar to the area having played for Badshot Lea Ladies in recent seasons. Centre-back Danielle Jones arrives with a lot of experience at Step 5 and Step 6 level of the Women’s game and will be installed as Club Captain of the Farnham Town Women.

Danielle played at Eversley & California Ladies before moving up a level to Badshot Lea Ladies in Step 6 and played there under Martin and his assistant manager Luis Emanuel when they were on the coaching staff at the Club, and we’re thrilled to welcome an experienced leader like Danielle to the side.

“I spent last season with Dani and got to experience how good she is first-hand. She’s a fast, determined central defender who’s first to every ball. She has a fantastic work ethic and is a natural leader – I’m excited to see how she leads our team this season and beyond”, Martin said.

Finally, we’re thrilled to welcome our new goalkeeper, with Jenna Temple also making the move from Badshot Lea Ladies. In previous seasons, Jenna was the captain of Dorking Wanderers Women before transferring to Badshot Lea Ladies where she also worked closely with Martin and goalkeeping coach Jack Steele.

Jenna spent the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons with Dorking Wanderers Women, keeping 22 clean sheets in 54 games across those two campaigns, helping the team win silverware in the Capital Cup. Another experienced, veteran leader to add to the dressing room, Jenna’s arrival sees a safe pair of hands enter between the sticks.

Martin said: “I know Jenna well from last season and she is a fantastic keeper, a natural shot-stopper. Her experience will be invaluable for our first season and we are extremely lucky to have her with us.”

Everyone at Farnham Town are thrilled to welcome these talented footballers to the Women’s side this summer, and we look forward to making more announcements in the coming weeks!
