Farnham Town are pleased to confirm the arrival of attacking midfielder Sam De St Croix from Southern League Premier South side Hungerford Town.
The 29-year-old comes with plenty of experience playing higher up the Non-League system and was a key player in the Crusaders’ side last season that narrowly missed out on a Play-Off berth at Step 3, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 29 appearances.
From the local area, Sam played his youth football at Aldershot Town and Farnborough – and also had a spell at Farnham Town as a teenager playing under former manager, now Chairman, Paul Tanner – before taking the plunge to travel across the world to play professional league football in New Zealand in 2017.
Spells with New Plymouth, Hamilton Wanderers, Hawke’s Bay United and North Shore United followed over a three-year stint before returning to English football with Metropolitan Police in the summer of 2020.
During the 21/22 campaign, Sam scored five times in 26 league games, helping fire Met Police into the Southern League Premier South Play-Offs where Farnborough ultimately defeated them en route to their promotion to the National League South.
He left Met Police to join Bognor Regis Town of the Isthmian League Premier Division for the 22/23 campaign before returning to Southern League football with Hungerford Town in the summer of 2023.
Manager Paul Johnson said: “Sam is a player I’ve heard a lot about from his time with Hungerford and Met Police especially, with good experience at Step 3. He’s a tricky midfielder who can make a big impact in the final third and should give us some options in a couple of positions. He’s local to the area and has been with the Club before so knows what we’re about. We’re excited to welcome him into the mix.”
Everyone at Farnham Town would like to welcome Sam to the Club, and we look forward to watching him at The Memorial Ground. Sam is fit and available to feature in our FA Trophy clash with Erith Town this weekend.
