Farnham Town are delighted to welcome the arrival of goalkeeper Hugo Sobte from National League South side Slough Town.
Following the news that Aldershot Town were recalling Pat Nash from his season-long loan at the Club, the Town were forced to re-enter the market for a new No.1 goalkeeper and manager Paul Johnson moved swiftly to bring in the 25-year-old.
Sobte will be no stranger to some of our fans after he put in an impressive display against Farnham earlier this season at Westfield, where he’s spent this season on a dual-registration, making a number of key saves to keep the Field in the game and was named as Man of the Match by the visitors, but the Town would run out eventual 2-0 winners at The Memorial Ground.
With an established Non-League career under his belt already, Sobte enjoyed an impressive four years at Hanwell Town between 2019 and 2023 and joined Ascot United where he made 31 appearances last season before catching the eye of Slough Town who brought him to Step 2 in January 2024.
After making five appearances in the National League South last term for the Rebels, without suffering defeat, Sobte re-signed with the Club for the 2024/25 campaign and was sent out to fellow Isthmian South Central outfit Westfield for regular game time. He made 15 appearances for Westfield this season, helping them to an impressive start to the campaign sitting just outside the play-off places.
We’d like to thank both Westfield and Slough Town for their cooperation this week in enabling us to complete the move. Sobte is now registered with the Club and will be available to play in our next fixture which is at home against promotion-chasing Raynes Park Vale next Saturday, November 16th.
