Farnham Town Receive Planning Permission for 700+ Capacity Terrace

Farnham Town are delighted to announce that Waverley Borough Council have granted planning permission for our latest development project, named #ReclaimTheClockEnd, which will see the installation of a new 700+ capacity, partially-covered terrace stand.

Back in June 2024, we unveiled our plans for the #ReclaimTheClockEnd project which would see the erection of a new terrace across the Clock End at The Memorial Ground, solidifying the long-term future of our iconic vantage point while also increasing its official capacity and making that area of the ground safer for our fans.

Through our amazing, growing fanbase, we were able to raise over £7,000 towards the construction of the new terrace, supported by two generous donations from club sponsors to take our overall fundraising efforts to over £27,000 – a sum which has been matched to the penny by Club Chairman Harry Hugo.

Without the support of every fan who donated, the wonderful team at Howden who have been long-term backers of Farnham Town, and the family of Sir Alan Jones, former Chairman of Toyota UK, avid supporter of the Farnham Lions and passionate Farnham Town fan, this latest phase of our infrastructural development would not be possible, and we would like to thank everyone for their commitment to us.

The new terrace will sit alongside the existing covered seated stand on the Clock End and we aim for construction of the new terrace to commence this coming summer. The green area of the terrace in the above designs will be the covered portion of the terrace. The walkway that rides the circumference of the railings around that area will also be widened to accommodate increased footfall.

Chairman Harry Hugo said: “When we announced the #ReclaimTheClockEnd plans, it wasn’t something the Club needed to do at the time, but as we’ve said a number of times, we don’t want to stand still and we’re always looking for ways to improve and develop as a Club.

“Everyone who comes to The Memorial Ground appreciates just how special watching games from the Clock End is, with that unique, elevated vantage point that oversees the pitch, and we wanted to preserve that for the future, and by installing this new terrace is allows us to safely accommodate hundreds of fans behind that goal.

“I’d like to personally thank everyone at Howden, the Jones Family and every single fan who has made a donation towards this project – we’re incredibly excited to see this come to life over the summer. This is probably the most exciting and drastic development project the Club has ever undertaken, but it’s going to have a massive impact on the atmosphere at Farnham Town.”
