Farnham Town is delighted to announce the signing of sought-after centre-back Dan Bayliss on a permanent transfer from National League South side Chesham United for an undisclosed fee on a contract until June 2027.
Dan, 26, arrives with great experience, not only at Step 3 level where he cemented himself as one of the standout defenders in the Southern League Premier South during his time with Bracknell, but at National League South level where he was a mainstay with Slough for two years prior to joining Chesham a United in the summer of 2025.
Bayliss came through the ranks at Basingstoke Town before joining Bracknell Town in the summer of 2019 where he rapidly rose to prominence, helping them earn promotion into Step 3 and captained the side into the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup as well as a second-placed finish in the Southern League Premier South playing alongside current Farnham Town standouts Darryl Sanders, Jack Dean and Michael Eacott.
His efforts for the Robins put him on the radar of a number of teams higher in the pyramid and in the summer of 2023, Dan completed a transfer to Slough Town where he made 71 appearances in two years in the National League South before joining league rivals Chesham United.
Speaking on the transfer, manager Paul Johnson said: “I’m really happy to have been able to bring Dan to the Club. He’s a player we’ve been aware of for some time and he adds some great quality and experience to an already strong group.
“We’ve wanted to make some improvements to our defensive group this month and bringing in a top centre-back was right up there for us. Dan was one of the top defenders at this level three seasons ago and has gone to be a mainstay in some strong Step 2 sides over the last couple of years as well.
“At 26, he’s someone who can grow with us and his best football should still be ahead of him. There’s natural ties with some of our lads that played together with Dan at Bracknell, and we know Dan will be a great personality fit for our dressing room.
“We’re really looking forward to working with Dan over the next couple of seasons as we continue to build a squad capable of competing at the top end of this division.”
