First Team Injury Update: November 19th

As we enter the notoriously congested Winter period, injuries will pile up like they do for all teams across all divisions in the game. Below, we have an injury update brought to you alongside our Health and Wellbeing partners, Nuffield Health.

Regretfully, we can confirm that striker Great Evans is set for an extended period on the sidelines as he prepares for knee surgery to address a recurring meniscus and cartilage problem.

Great, whose last appearance for the Town came as a second half substitute in the visit of Walton & Hersham back on the 21st of October, has been a key member of the squad since arriving from Bracknell Town back in September 2024.

Last season, Great contributed mightily to our title success in the Isthmian South Central, scoring 12 goals and recording 13 assists in 35 appearances as we earned promotion to Step 3 for the first time in our history. In total, the 25-year-old striker has appeared 46 times for Farnham Town, scoring 14 times.

Wanting to speak to the fans, Great has a message for our supporters:

“Devastated isn’t even the word. Football is my life, and to have it taken away in such a cruel way hurts deeply. But I also know there’s always someone out there going through worse, so I’m keeping perspective and keeping faith.

“You’ll still see me around the ground, smiling and supporting the boys as we push to get my brothers over the line into Step 2. Once surgery is done, I’ll focus on resting, recovering and coming back stronger. Whatever the Lord has planned for me next, I’m ready for it.”

Great remains a valued part of our squad and has continued to travel home and away with the team in recent weeks supporting the group. Along with our partners at Nuffield Health, we’re looking forward to supporting Great on his road to recovery after his surgery and hopefully down the line see him back playing at The Memorial Ground.

Additionally, attacking midfielder Andronicos Georgiou will remain out of action until 2026 as he himself battles back from a knee problem.

The 26-year-old signed for Farnham from Hashtag United earlier this season in September and made his debut as a substitute in the 5-1 away win at Epsom & Ewell in the Surrey Senior Cup on September 30th but hasn’t featured since.

Andronicos is battling a lingering knee issue that the Club was made aware of when we brought him in, which has been tough to manage and has flared up with varying degrees of severity over the last few weeks.

The Club has supported Andronicos over the past two months, monitoring his progress as he looks to return to the field. He’s making steady progress but it’s looking likely that his next action won’t come before the turn of the year at the very earliest.

Throughout, Andronicos has remained thoroughly committed to support his teammates on and off the field, regularly seen following the team home and away, illustrating his superb professionalism as he works his way back to full fitness, and we look forward to hopefully welcoming him back into the fold in early 2026.

Another long-term absentee is midfielder Kai Tanner. Making his first and only appearance of the season away at Gosport Borough back in August, Kai sustained a substantial foot and ankle injury and had to be helped off the pitch in the dying moments of the game.

An imaging report from Nuffield Health after the game revealed that Kai had suffered significant injuries to his left foot, including a fracture of the heel bone, a grade 2 sprain of the ATFL ligament, a tear within the chopart joint as well as severe ankle bruising.

Over the past three months, Kai has been undergoing regular physiotherapy on the injury as the swelling and pain subsides ahead of a follow-up with Nuffield Health physicians to determine the appropriate next step.

After liaising with specialist surgeons, Kai has been advised that surgery is not needed on his foot, and he has now moved into the next phase of his recovery, focussing on re-strengthening the area, but the road to a full return to the field remains a long one.

Providing this next stage of his rehab goes to plan, a return to mobility training and cardio work is scheduled for early 2026, with long-term aims of getting Kai back into training by March next year all being well.

We continue to wish all three the very best as they continue their recovery from extended lay-offs, and extend our thanks to Nuffield Health for their support throughout the season.
