Farnham Town is delighted to announce the signing of vastly experienced midfielder Billy Clifford from National League South side Farnborough, agreeing to terms for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
The 33-year-old central midfielder arrives with over a decade of experience playing at the professional level after graduating from the Chelsea academy setup. Between 2012 and 2014, Clifford enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Colchester United and Royal Antwerp before leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis to join Walsall in the summer of 2014.
From 2014 t0 2018, Billy accrued over 100 appearances across spells with Walsall, Boreham Wood and Crawley Town before arriving at Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South. In the 2019/20 season, he netted six times in 31 appearances for Wealdstone as they won the National League South title, earning a place in the divisions Team of the Season in the process.
From there, Billy joined Havant & Waterlooville in the summer of 2020 where he made over 70 appearances for the Club in the National League South, scoring on four occasions prior to joining league rivals Ebbsfleet United in January 2023 to bolster their promotion push, netting once in 17 appearances, once again winning the league title and earning promotion to the National League where he made a further 30 league appearances in 2023/24, scoring twice.
In the summer of 2024, Billy left Ebbsfleet to join fellow National League side Barnet where he made 21 appearances as the Bees earned promotion back to the Football League. Last summer, he returned to the National League South with Farnborough where he’s started 20 of 28 league games he’s been available for, making 30 appearances in total so far this season.
Having been a key contributor to three promotion-winning sides in the last six seasons at National League and National League South level, Billy brings great quality to the squad and adds exceptional leadership and experience to the dressing room.
