Farnham Town is delighted to announce the signing of experienced striker Rhys Murphy from National League South side Horsham on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 35-year-old striker has a storied career in the pro-game which started with coming through the ranks at Arsenal before leaving in 2012 to spend a season with Telstar in the Netherlands.
Returning to English football in the summer of 2013, Rhys racked up over 140 appearances and 38 goals over the next five years during spells in the Football League and National League with the likes of Dagenham & Redbridge, Oldham Athletic, Crawley Town, AFC Wimbledon, Forest Green Rovers, Torquay United, Gillingham and York City.
In the 2018/19 season, he joined Chelmsford City in the National League South and finished the season as the top scorer in the division netting 28 goals throughout the campaign, helping the Clarets earn a play-off berth.
The following season, Murphy joined Yeovil Town in the National League on a two-year contract where he scored 34 goals in 64 appearances during his time at the Club. He joined National League rivals Southend United in the summer of 2021, making 36 appearances for the Shrimpers over two seasons with them, netting on 11 occasions.
Rhys returned the National League South for the 2023/24 season, rejoining Yeovil Town, netting 15 goals in 30 games and earning a move to Dorking Wanderers for the following season where injuries limited him to just 18 appearances for the Wanderers, scoring five times.
From there, he joined Horsham in the summer of 2025 where he’s featured regularly this campaign, appearing 33 times in the National League South, with five goals to his name.
Over the years, Rhys has proven himself as a quality and consistent goalscorer at Step 1 and 2 level, and is a welcome addition to our squad for the final weeks of the season.
