Chairman’s Pride At Youth Success

“The Success Of Our Youth Team Should Not Be Underestimated”

Farnham Town Chairman Paul Tanner is delighted to pay tribute to last night’s Under 18 Championship winners.

“I’ve been in and around football for a number of years, and the success of the Farnham Town Youth Team in winning the league title last night should not be underestimated.

I believe that this is the first time that a Farnham Town Youth Team has won a league title and the achievement is on a level with the reign of success that the First Team enjoyed under Ernie Howe.

Although Farnham has produced a number of very successful young players over the last few years, many of them moved on at a young age, and none of them experienced the thrill of winning a league title.

Everyone involved with the team’s success should take time to enjoy their experience.

Winning a title should never be taken lightly.

It may only happen once in your career.  For some players, it may not happen at all.

The nature of youth team football is such that achievements such as this can be forgotten all too quickly as players move on to further education, full time careers and, perhaps, leave the game due to new commitments.

Dan Goodall, his management team and every single player that played for the Farnham Town Youth Team this season should be extremely proud of what they have achieved.  I know that I am.

On a personal note, I would like to stress how much of an achievement this is for Farnham Town.

Well done to everyone involved this season and here’s to more success in future campaigns”.
