Match Report: Farnham Town 0 Frimley Green 1

Home Woes Continue As Farnham Town Are Frustrated By Frimley Green.

One step forward, two steps back.

After an exciting, impressive, performance away to Banstead Athletic, this was turgid stuff.

It didn’t help that the Town were forced to make changes again.

First off, there was a completely different back four that had never played together before.

Then there were the changes to the forward line due to the departure of Connor Young to Fleet Town.

Yet despite this, Farnham had early chances to take the lead.

A Shamel Edwards cross looped over the ‘keeper but onto the top of the crossbar, then Lewis Flatman, played in by Owen Dean, failed to finish with only the ‘keeper to beat, before Flatman again was foiled by a fine save from his crisp shot taken from outside the area.

However, despite their recent poor run of form, Frimley Green were very much in the game.

And, on 26 minutes, they would take the lead when Patrick Campbell was dispossessed by Alexander Afful, who took two strides before unleashing a precise chip that sailed over Farnham ‘keeper Liam Harris and into the net.

The Town continued to create chances without success for the remainder of the first half, with Flatman and Dean going close, before neat interplay between them presented Shamel Edwards with Farnham’s second one on one chance that the Frimley Green ‘keeper Chris Harris did well to save with his feet.

Into the second half and Farnham continued to create chances, only to find Harris in inspired form.

His reaction save from a flick on from Town substitute Lamin Ceesey being the pick of an impressive bunch.

On another afternoon, Farnham might have had a hatful.

However, this game would be summed up by a late miss from Edwards, heading wide when he should have scored.

So on to next Saturday and a visit from promotion chasing, local rivals, Badshot Lea.

The Town will have to play better, and take their chances, if they are to come away with anything.
