Reid Revolution Sees Six Shooters Gun Down Frimley

The Feel Good Factor Continues As The Town Thrash Frimley Green 6-1

After only three games, the idea of a ‘Reid Revolution’ is gaining real traction among the fast growing band of Farnham fans

And, on the basis of this performance, their belief in the new manager is well-deserved.

The Town scored six and, quite frankly, it could have been sixteen.

And if that sounds mean to a spirited Frimley Green side, it’s not meant to be.

There is no shame in losing to a superior opponent and here Farnham were, by far, the superior side.

The only surprise was that it took so long for the scoreline to reflect this superiority.

Having dominated the opening exchanges, the Town took the lead after 10 minutes when Josh Ogunseye was judged, perhaps somewhat fortuitously, to have been fouled on the edge of the area.  Tom Smith shaped to take the resulting free kick with his left foot, but instead left it to Karle Carder-Andrews who pretty much passed his right foot shot into the bottom right corner.

Which is why it was so surprising when, during a rare Frimley attack, debutant keeper (our sixth of the season!) Gary Ross flapped at a cross and, as the Town defence failed to clear the ball, could only stand and watch as Frimley equalised.

Coming so much against the run of play, the goal knocked Farnham out of their stride and it wasn’t until the end of the first half that they regained their composure, and the lead, when it was Frimley’s turn to fail to clear, first a free kick and then a corner with675 Cavin Atkinson causing mayhem in the area before Arsen Ujkaj slammed the ball home.

Although the second half saw a series of substitutions that slightly affected the Town’s rhythm, they didn’t affect the team’s dominance and, although Frimley kept the margin at one goal for the first part of the second half, it was no surprise when Farnham increased their lead with a trademark goal from Josh Ogunseye, cutting in from the right before lashing the ball into the top left corner.

With the match now won, Farnham were able to turn on the style with substitutes Oli Ryman, Owen Dean and, in particular, Kye Nash all catching the eye, the latter two also getting on the scoresheet with fine goals in the final five minutes.

All that was then left was for Max Blackmore to score a bullet header in injury time to maintain his goal-a-game record for the Town.

Farnham will have tougher challenges in the coming weeks but this was very much a ‘statement performance’ that will have teams higher up the table looking over their shoulders at a side very much on the up.

Vive la revolution!

MOTM :  Arsen Ujkaj

Farnham will be looking to move into the top half of the table when they travel to Fleet Town on Saturday.  See you all there!

The Town’s next home match is the Cherry Red Premier Cup game against Rayners Lane on Tuesday 01 February.  Kick off 7:45pm
