Farnham Flares Host A Ten Team Walking Football Tournament This Sunday.
Some of South England’s leading walking football teams, including Chelsea, AFC Wimbledon and Havant, will compete with the Farnham Flares in the inaugural Waverley Cup Tournament at Farnham Town’s Memorial Ground on Sunday 19th September.
The Flares are fielding an Over-50s side, an Over-60s side, and a special All-Stars side of players just outside these age categories.
The action kicks off at 10:30am with the ten participating teams divided into two groups of five.
Each match lasts 16 minutes with no break, two matches are played simultaneously on each half of the Farnham Town pitch, before the top two teams from each group progress to the semi-finals, with the winners then competing in the final for the Waverley Cup.
And top quality walking football isn’t all that’s being served up on Sunday!
The Clubhouse Bar will be open and serving drinks all day, while the Full Times catering trailer will be offering its usual mouth-watering menu of matchday food including delicious Handmade Burgers from local butcher, Hand’s of Rowledge, Veggie Burgers, Steak Pies, Chicken & Mushroom Pies, a Vegetarian Pie and a selection of crisps and confectionery.
There’ll also be a selection of soft drinks, tea, coffee and the recently introduced decaffeinated coffee available to purchase.
Spectators are more than welcome and can come in FREE of charge.
However, if you would like to make a donation, the Farnham Flares are looking to raise funds to purchase a portable defibrillator.
So, if you’re curious about walking football, come down to the Memorial Ground from 10:30am on Sunday to see what it’s all about.
