A Partnership That Will Help The Club Further Improve Its Facilities.
Farnham Town Football Club is delighted to announce that the MKJ Group has agreed to be a key community partner for a further season, supporting the team on the pitch and helping the club to promote the work and requirements of Farnham Foodbank.
A cable infrastructure installation contractor to the telecommunications industry for over 20 years, MKJ Group install full fibre broadband networks in rural areas, with a team of highly skilled professionals, dedicated to the delivery of cable installation projects.
The extended relationship will provide additional support for the club’s ambitious plans to continue the programme of renovations to both the ground and The Clubhouse, which were recently granted planning permission by Waverley Borough Council.
A conversation with MKJ director John Fortune and his good friend John Welch revealed both to be ‘old school’ football fans.
However, for John Fortune, it wasn’t an obvious path to take.
“My school was all about rugby. I didn’t fancy it, so I rebelled and became a football fan!”
Local lad John Welch had an easier time of things.
“I went to Hale school where football was the main sport.
And, back in the day, I even got to play on the Memorial Ground in the Borelli Cup!”
The pair are massive fans of football at all levels and, in addition to Farnham Town, MKJ also partner Bristol Rovers and Woking.
“What we like about lower level football is the camaraderie.
You can go along to the game with your mates, turn up and pay at the gate, enjoy the atmosphere and, at the end of 90 minutes, discuss the match over a pint with the opposition fans with absolutely no trouble at all”.
When asked about the best player that they had ever seen, both plumped for members of England’s heroes from 1966.
For John Welch, the vote goes to Sir Bobby Charlton.
“Simply a great midfield player. Steady, reliable and capable of changing the game with his powerful shot”.
John Fortune goes for the England skipper, Bobby Moore.
“He read the game so well, he never needed to run. Excellent in possession and bringing the ball forward”.
However, both agree on a modern player that’s on a par with their icons.
“Leah Williamson is a terrific player with all of the attributes that made Bobby Moore such a fine defender”.
With their extensive appreciation of the game at all levels, Farnham Town is delighted the MKJ Group has agreed to extend their partnership for a second season and looks forward to seeing both Johns at a home game in the near future.
