This Time It’s Farnham Town Who Are Denied By A Late Equaliser.
In front of a Bank Holiday crowd of nearly 500, many of whom filled the superb new So Resi sponsored stand, the Town put in a fine first half performance, only to be pulled back by a Camberley Town equaliser just three minutes from time.
It was the visitors who drew first blood after eight minutes, when full back Bradley Kauzeni twice failed to clear the ball, giving the former Farnham Town striker Charlie Oakley a straightforward opportunity to put Camberley one up.
Less than ten minutes later, the Town were back level.
Lewis Flatman made space and time down the right before pulling the ball back perfectly for Shamal Edwards, seemingly arriving from nowhere, to drill past the Camberley ‘keeper.
Nine minutes later, the Town went in front when a Luke Dunn cross found Lamar Koroma on the edge of the area. The Farnham skipper took a touch before unleashing a powerful shot that took a deflection the left the ‘keeper completely stranded.
Given their recent form, it seemed a serious prospect that the Farnham fans would enjoy further goals, with Flatman and Edwards, in particular, casing the Camberley defence all sorts of problems with their pace, precise passing and clever movement.
Yet a third goal didn’t come before the break and, at the start of the second half, the Town had a lucky escape when Camberley hit the post with a header from a well worked free kick in the 48th minute.
A tactical change on the hour mark saw Andy Ali introduced up front and Shamal Edwards moved to the left, where his pace continued to create headaches without creating the killer chance that would have seen Farnham extend their lead and, as the match moved towards its conclusion, it was, in fact, the visitors that began to look the more dangerous.
This being Farnham Town, the fans now know to expect some late drama and this match was no different!
First, in the 90th minute, Mason Taylor swivelled and volleyed home a fine equaliser.
Then, deep into injury time, Shamal Edwards was gifted an open goal as the Camberley ‘keeper let the ball bounce over him. Given the goalscoring form that Sham is in, it seemed inevitable that he would score, but the ball seemed to strike his knee and the chance went begging.
A disappointing end, but the Town are a team in form and will be looking to take another three points when they visit Coxbridge rivals, Badshot Lea on Easter Monday.
