Darryl Sanders pens contract extension with Farnham Town

Farnham Town are thrilled to announce that midfielder Darryl Sanders has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Club for the 2024/25 season.

Sanders joined the Town last summer after a successful season at Bracknell Town where he was widely regarded as one of the top players in the division, helping steer the Robins to the Southern League Premier South play-off final where they narrowly lost out to Truro City.

Having enjoyed several years playing under Paul Johnson during their time together at first Spelthorne Sports and then Bedfont Sports, earning promotion to Step 4 before his move to Bracknell Town, Sanders was one of many players who decided to make the move to Farnham ahead of the 23/24 campaign due to the exciting project taking shape.

The attacking midfielder was an instant hit at The Memorial Ground, scoring 18 goals and providing 21 assists in 28 games for the Club – all of which went down as Farnham Town wins – before a knee injury in February put Sanders on the sidelines. Still, there is hope that he could make a return before the season is finished.

Manager Paul Johnson said: “I’ve known Daz for many years and we’ve had a lot of success together. He was one of my top targets last summer and we were chuffed to bits that the Club were able to bring him in. He brings real quality to the side and we can’t wait to go again next season.”

Club Director Harry Hugo said: “When Johno and Jimmy were telling us about the kind of player Darryl is this time last year, we were all so excited about the prospect of a player of his calibre joining the Club. He was a major coup for us in our recruitment last summer and knew he would play a key role in our title charge. The expectations were high and he’s exceeded them all as a player and a person. It’s been a joy to have Darryl and his family as part of the Club this past season, the fans love him and we’re thrilled to tie him down for next season. I just want to see him on the pitch more!”
