Lewis Flatman to remain at Farnham Town next season

Farnham Town are pleased to confirm that striker Lewis Flatman will remain part of the first-team squad for the 2024/25 season.

The 23-year-old made the move to the Town in February 2023 from Spelthorne Sports and immediately hit the ground running. He started each of the final 19 games across all competitions in the 22/23 campaign, contributing towards 26 goals split evenly with 13 goals and 13 assists, including an extra-time brace in the Southern Combination Cup semi-final over Virginia Water which booked our place in the final where we ran out 3-2 winners over Balham in extra-time.

Having worked closely with Paul Johnson and Jimmy Hibburt during their time together at Bedfont Sports, Flatman is a player well-known to the coaching staff as well as many of the new faces that arrived in the summer and was considered an important retention in the squad coming into the 23/24 season.

Flatman remained a key and consistent contributor throughout our title-winning campaign, making 46 appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists for his teammates as we secured promotion to Step 4 football for the first time in Club history.

Always unpredictable, Lewis has delivered several memorable moments for the Town this past season. Important opening goals in the home wins over Knaphill and Snodland Town, a hat-trick against his former side Spelthorne Sports and goal of the season contenders in the victories over AFC Croydon Athletic and Sutton United to name just a few.

Possessing a great affinity with the fans, Flatman has always given those in attendance moments that get them on the edge of their seats, and we’re excited to welcome him back next season.

Manager Paul Johnson said: “I’ve known Lewis for a long time, he’s someone I’ve worked with for a few years now and he’s always given his all for the team. He was one of the early signings we made, he believed in what we wanted to build and achieve at Farnham and has been a key part in delivering on that.

“He’s been key in the dressing room culture we’ve built at the Club that has been the backbone of the past season’s success. His goal return speaks for itself and he’s got match-winning ability at any moment of the game. Lewis is going to be an important part of the squad next season and we’re pleased to see he’s continuing on this journey with us.”
