Farnham Town announce pre-season friendly against QPR this summer

Farnham Town are excited to reveal the identity of the second of their two “mystery opponents” in their published 2024/25 pre-season schedule, with Sky Bet Championship outfit QPR coming down to The Memorial Ground on Saturday, July 6th.

Earlier this month, we announced the first “mystery opponent” as we travel to Meadowbank to take on Dorking Wanderers on Saturday, July 27th, but our home opener of the pre-season slate will see the Town welcome full-time opposition in QPR.

Having secured promotion to Step 4 for the first time in our 118-year history this past season, winning the Combined Counties Premier Division South by 29 points, setting the best points-per-game record in that division’s modern history in the process without suffering a defeat, manager Paul Johnson is hoping a strong pre-season schedule will help prepare us for life in the level above.

We expect the QPR XI to feature mostly development squad players but could see a handful of first-team players involved, and it represents a chance for the Farnham Town squad to test themselves against top-quality opposition. A huge thank you to everyone at the Rs who have worked with us in getting this fixture locked into the diary.

This game will be the second of a seven-game pre-season schedule as it stands, and as mentioned it will be our first home fixture with the Club recognised as a Step 4 side. It will be a 1 PM kick-off on Saturday, July 6th, so make sure you note that time down. The Clubhouse will also be open after the game throughout the afternoon and evening as the Euro 2024 quarter-finals will be on across the big screens inside. Fingers crossed that England will be involved! Hot food will be available as well all afternoon.

All pre-season fixtures, opponents, locations and kick-off times remain subject to change. Keep an eye across our social media channels and our website for updates as and when they come.
