Farnham Town announce pre-season friendly at Dorking Wanderers

Farnham Town are pleased to reveal the identity of one of their two “mystery opponents” as part of their pre-season schedule released last week, with the Town travelling east across Surrey to take on Dorking Wanderersย of the National League South.

The fixture will take place at Dorking’s Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday, July 27th. It will be a 3 PM kick-off.

Meadowbank will be a venue many of our travelling fans will be familiar with as it was the host ground for this past season’s Surrey Senior Cup Final, where Farnham Town fell to a narrow defeat against Step 4 South Park (Reigate).

Dorking Wanderers are a team that a lot of supporters will know about, either through following their rise up the leagues locally or through the ‘Dorking Uncovered’ documentary series that’s been tracking the Club on their ascent up the football pyramid.

Founder, Owner, Chairman, ex-player and now Manager of Wanderers, Marc White, has spearheaded the rise of the Club for over two decades, including guiding them to promotion to the National League in 2021/22 via the playoffs.

For the last two seasons, Dorking has been operating as one of just three part-time Clubs in the division, punching well above their weight. Their 16th-place finish in 2022/23 marked an all-time high for the Wanderers. This past season, they were unable to beat the drop and were relegated back to the National League South where in 2024/25, they expect to be among the main contenders for promotion.

As for Farnham, this fixture is currently slated to be the sixth of a seven-game schedule this summer as we prepare for life at Step 4 following our promotion from the Combined Counties Premier Division South as unbeaten champions.

There isn’t a great deal of match history between the two sides, but some of you may remember Farnham Town welcomed Dorking to The Memorial Ground for a mid-season friendly match in September 2022. The Town took a first-half lead in that game before Dorking’s quality shone through, running out 3-1 winners.

Everyone at Farnham Town would like to thank Dorking Wanderers for their collaboration in getting this fixture in the diaries, and it’s one we’re sure will excite both sets of supporters.

More details regarding our final two pre-season opponents that are yet to be announced will be communicated in the next couple of weeks.
