Farnham Town ties down Owen Dean for 24/25 season

Farnham Town are delighted to announce that Owen Dean has penned a contract extension with the Club that will keep him at The Memorial Ground for the 2024/25 season.

The 19-year-old forward was developed in the Farnham Town youth system and made his first-team debut against Frimely Green on January 11th 2022, scoring after being introduced off the bench, and has since established himself as a first-team regular.

Over the 2022/23 campaign, Dean made the most appearances of any Farnham player that season with 41, netting 14 goals and laying on eight assists in the process. He wrote his name into the club history books with a hat-trick in the Southern Combination Cup final against Balham in May 2023, pulling the Town back from 2-0 down to secure a 3-2 win in extra-time.

This season, Owen has kicked on again, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists across 41 appearances in all competitions as we secured the Combined Counties Premier Division South title in style and promotion to Step 4 for the first time in our history.

On March 16th 2024, Dean struck his second hat-trick for the Town in a 4-0 win over AFC Croydon Athletic, helping him reach 50 goal contributions for the Club.

Manager Paul Johnson said: “It’s great for the Club to retain players like Owen going forward. He came through the youth ranks and is one of our own. He’s been massive for us since we joined the Club and will continue to be next season as we take on Step 4 for the first time.”

Director Harry Hugo said: “It’s always key to show the pathway from the youth system into the first-team, and Owen Dean is the perfect role model for the younger players at the Club. Even at his age, he’s proven to be a key player and leader in the changing room. We’re thrilled that he’s decided to sign a new contract with the Club as we look to build a competitive squad for next season.”
